Welding Intern

Office Hours: M-F 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Under general supervision from staff, will have the opportunity to learn about a career in welding through the internship experience.

 

Essential Functions:

·               Assist/shadow qualified welders. Depending on welding experience, may be given own welding tasks.

·               General cleaning of the warehouse and shop.

·               Steel inventory.

·               Depending on experience level, intern may be given option to ho into the field.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:  Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, mathematical skills and be courteous and respectful.  Must be a detail-oriented team player.  Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required.  Intern must enjoy working with the public without bias, be a self-starter, motivated, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.  Must possess the ability to think on their feet and work well under pressure.

Experience/Education:  Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing a career in welding after high school.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

Attire: Plan to dress appropriately for a shop setting.  Closed toed shoes, long pants or jeans without holes.  Intern may need to be prepared to dress for varied weather conditions, and should be prepared to get dirty.
