Fry Funeral Home is located in Tipton, Iowa.
The Funeral Director's Assistant Intern, under direct supervision of staff, will have the opportunity to observe and learn more about a career in mortuary science through this internship.
Essential Functions:
- Understand and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the business, and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.
- Welcome, value and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
- Assist in office and help with administrative duties.
- Assist Funeral Director with funeral services, including greeting people at the door and observing during the arrangement of the service.
- Assist with errands, such as delivering death certificates, delivering and arranging flowers, delivering thank you cards, photographs, etc.
- Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.
Minimum Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge: Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be courteous and respectful. Must be a detail-oriented team player. Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required. Intern must enjoy working people of all ages, without discrimination or bias. Intern must show initiative, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
Experience/Education: Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in a career in mortuary science after high school. Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
Attire: Plan to dress appropriately, depending on the tasks planned for the day.
General Physical Activities with or without reasonable accommodation: Frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking or lifting up to 30lbs. Occasional kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pulling, pushing or lifting over 30 lbs.
THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, WILL BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
