Benton County Conservation is located in Benton County, Iowa.

 

The Conservation Technician Intern, under direct supervision of staff, will have the opportunity to observe and learn more about a career in conservation through this internship.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Understand and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the business, and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.

  • Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image. 

Minimum Requirements:

Skills/Knowledge:  Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be courteous and respectful.  Must be a detail-oriented team player.  Professional, trustworthy, and confidential conduct is required.  Intern must enjoy working people of all ages, without discrimination or bias.  Intern must show initiative, and able to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing. 

Experience/Education:  Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in a career in conservation after high school.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

Attire: Plan to dress appropriately for working outdoors, and depending on the tasks planned for the day.  Closed toed shoes or boots, long pants or jeans without holes, and sweatshirts or long sleeved t-shirts, with artwork/logos approved by the business host.  Intern should be prepared to dress for varied weather conditions, and should be prepared to get dirty. .

General Physical Activities with or without reasonable accommodation:  Occasional sitting, standing, reaching, walking or lifting up to 30lbs.  Frequent kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pulling, pushing or lifting over 30 lbs. 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, WILL BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
