The Bakery Assistant Intern, under direct supervision of staff, will have the opportunity to learn about a career in the culinary arts through this experience.
Essential Functions:
- Use and model appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision, and beliefs and in accordance with operation procedures and policies.
- Welcome, value and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
- Interact with patrons in a retail setting.
- Assist with preparation of baked goods for sale in the retail space.
- Prep bakery items for the display cases.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with patrons.
- Must follow safety and sanitary guidelines as demonstrated and defined by the site host
- Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.
Minimum Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge: Must have the ability to follow instructions, strong organizational and communication skills, and be courteous and respectful. Intern must enjoy working with others free of bias, self-motivated, professional, and trustworthy. Confidential conduct is required. Must be nurturing, warm, and compassionate when dealing with families and children.
Experience/Education: Must be a high school student in good standing, and interested in pursuing culinary arts as a career after high school. Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
Attire: Jeans in good repair are allowed. T-shirts with no writing and modest style are permitted.
Wear closed-toed, comfortable shoes. Long hair must be pulled back.
General Physical Activities with or without Reasonable Accommodation: Frequent reaching, walking and lifting up to 30lbs. Occasional kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, standing, grasping, pulling, and pushing and lifting over 30 lbs.
THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH OTHER EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
