Internship Title: Art Teacher Assistant

Essential Functions:

Help in the classroom with various activities such as one-on-one with students, working with small groups during centers and seat work.

Carry out developmentally appropriate activities the teacher has prepared.

Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image. Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

Be creative with lessons and students.

Give regular positive feedback to students regarding their artwork and creating.

Make sure students are using supplies correctly.

Organize, keep track of and clean supplies.

Minimum Requirements:

· Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions. Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. Must be courteous and respectful. Ability to learn quickly. Must communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

· Must be a high school student in good standing. Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.

· Business casual attire.

· Previous experience with elementary age children is helpful but not required.

· Interest in exploring a career in elementary education.

· Ability to interact with young children in a positive enthusiastic manner.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
