Office Hours: 9:00-3:00, M-F

Position Summary	The practicum is designed to provide a selected high school student with an internship opportunity for career exploration in the Biomedical Department.
Hours of Assignment	Specific hours will be negotiated by each intern with each department contact. All internship hours will be scheduled during the weekdays, between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist with minor repairs of blood pressure cuffs.

2. Assist with troubleshooting and repair of call systems.

3. Update time and fix room clocks as necessary.

4. Troubleshoot and update the TV/cable system.

5. Collect old batteries through the hospital and dispose of them properly.

6. Assist with troubleshooting and repair of the overhead paging system.

7. Helping maintain the organization of parts, work area, and storage areas in the St. Luke’s Biomed shop.

8. Set up video equipment for staff in the hospital.

Requirements

1. There is very high scrutiny required for placement in this internship.

2. Responsible for communicating and rescheduling absences with department contact.

3. Enter all hours in VicNet within 24 hours of service.

4. Internships are unpaid and for school credit.

5. Follow Unity Point and WLC protocol when you take pictures during your internship.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
