Description of Role:
· Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.
· Exercises confidentiality of patient and hospital information at all times. Must complete confidentiality paperwork before start of internship.
· Data entry into computer.
· Scanning of documents.
· Assist patients by answering questions and accepting payments in a professional and timely manner.
· Perform billing related duties included but not limited to claim edits, rejections, submissions follow-up and denials.
· Interface with other departments to exchange information.
· Demonstrate a professional image in dealing with the public, patients and families
· Assist Business Office staff to perform a wide variety of tasks.
Minimum Requirements:
· Skills/Knowledge: Ability to follow instructions. Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures is required. Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice. Must be detail-oriented, courteous and respectful. Basic computer skills, knowledge of office equipment, experience in Excel, accuracy with numbers and reconciling data is recommended. Professional and trustworthy conduct is required.
· Experience/Education: Must be a high school student in good standing. Experience with computers and Microsoft Excel preferred. Ability to use basic office equipment including telephone, copier, fax, computer is required.
· Attire: Business Casual attire is required
This description does not list all duties. Intern may be asked to perform other duties by the staff or supervisor. Intern will be evaluated on performance of the projects listed as well as interaction with employees and clients. On-site hours will be negotiated with each candidate.
