Internship Length: 45 hrs

Essential Functions:

 

• Report to the shop at the start of each practicum day.
• May be asked to drive locally to job site to meet supervisor.
• Take parts to job site if needed.  Load and unload parts truck.
• Cut sheet metal.  Assist in draining water lines.  Installation of equipment.
• Organize shop area including putting away parts.
• Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

• Skills/Knowledge:  Ability to follow instructions.  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice.  Must be detail-oriented.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required as the student will be working in customer’s homes.  Must be courteous and respectful.  Natural mechanical abilities helpful, along with basic knowledge of tools.  Must have a valid Iowa Driver’s License.
• Must be a high school senior in good standing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.
• Comfortable clothing suitable for the trades industry is required.

 

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
