Internship Length: 45 hrs
Functions:
Student will work under the guidance, supervision and instruction of the Food Service Director and will assist with:
- Food Preparation based on sanitary and safety guidelines and appropriate use of all kitchen equipment/tools.
- Line serving meeting guidelines for portion control, service timelines and excellent customer service.
- Recipe conversions.
- Inventory control and kitchen organization skills.
- Inventory ordering/cost analysis and nutrician analysis.
Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge: Must enjoy people, be prompt and dependable, takes pride and ownership in work.
Must be a self-starter, team player and able to perform routine tasks without being prompted.
Must be a high school student in good standing.
Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible. Ability to follow instructions. Professional and trustworthy conduct is required. Must be courteous and respectful.
Culinary or professional kitchen experience a plus.
Long hair must be pulled back
Sanitary guidelines must be followed at all times
Must follow safety guidelines as demonstrated and defined by the site host
Jeans in good repair are allowed. T-shirts with no writing and modest style are permitted.
THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.
SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
