Internship Length: 45 hrs

Essential Functions:

• Duties may include patient transport via wheelchair, communicating with residents and family members, delivering nourishments as needed.
• Assist activities director with organization and residents participation in site recreational activities to promote resident wellness.
• Observe the Registered Nurse in meeting the needs of the residents to maintain their daily activities of life.
• Demonstrate awareness of the residents and personal safety by practicing correct body mechanics and standard precautions for infection control in performing job duties.
• Help keep work areas neat and organized to promote positive image.  Use appropriate behavior in keeping with the mission, vision and beliefs and in accordance with operating procedures and policies.

Minimum Requirements:

• Skills/Knowledge:  Ability to follow instructions.  Must have strong organizational and communication skills, be a team player, and enjoy working with the public without bias or prejudice.  Must be detail-oriented.  Professional and trustworthy conduct is required.  Must be courteous and respectful.  Must enjoy working with the elderly.   Confidentiality of patient information is required.
• Must be a high school senior in good standing.  Must be poised, mature and possess a positive attitude while being flexible.  Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing at least 25 pounds.
• A professional appearance is essential.

THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT LIST ALL DUTIES. INTERN MAY BE ASKED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES BY THE STAFF OR SUPERVISOR. INTERN WILL BE EVALUATED ON PERFORMANCE OF THE PROJECTS LISTED AS WELL AS INTERACTION WITH EMPLOYEES AND CLIENTS. ON-SITE HOURS WILL BE NEGOTIATED WITH EACH CANDIDATE.

SAFETY EXPECTATIONS, INCLUDING HARASSMENT, SHOULD BE REVIEWED WITH THE HOST.
